We’ve been trying to take advantage of winter lately. Winter in Wellington is fairly mild, especially compared to Colorado standards. It’s been pretty wet, but we’re yet to get below zero. That didn’t stop us from going ice skating though. We headed down to the waterfront where a temporary rink was set up, so we got Hopscotch out on skates for the first time, then got some ice cream and watched some kids jump into the freezing harbour water.
And a couple of weeks ago we headed out skiing. Mt Ruapehu, an active volcano, is about 4 hours from Wellington and it has two ski fields on it, I’ve been excited to get Hop on skis, so we set her up with some lessons. The first day was quite blustery, but the second was beautiful and she did great, even asking to go back out after lunch. The days are starting to get longer though, and it’ll start to feel like spring soon.
