Keep on keeping on

Speaking of houses, we’re thinking we will try again to look for a house to buy soon(ish). We’ve been renting since October because until I had a job, we weren’t going to be able to get a mortgage (lending is much stricter here). Now that I’m employed we should be able to get a pre-approval soon and start looking for a house of our own. It will definitely be challenging – although the Wellington market has cooled a bit over the past few months, prices are still really high, which will make it challenging to find a place that will work for us that we can still afford. The plan is to get into something that likely won’t be our dream home (and might even need some work) but will allow us to build up some equity and be able to move into our forever-home in a few years.

For now we’re getting through winter. It hasn’t been too cold (not even below freezing) but we’ve had some good wind and cold rain (and even some sleet) to contend with. But the days are starting to get longer…
