On the road

Hi everyone! Sorry there haven’t been many updates lately.  I guess that means we’re getting more settled in and things are starting to feel less novel. While I try to come up with some more ideas for posts I’ll just post some pictures from our Easter trip to Napier.

Easter here means four days off (Good Friday and the Monday after Easter are holidays) so we drove about 5 hours up the east coast to Napier to camp at a caravan park with Hop’s best friend from daycare and her parents. This was our first real trip more than a couple of hours outside Wellington since we got here, so it was nice to see some new scenery.

The weather was great and we had a good time going to the National Aquarium, playing, and going for a nice hike up to some waterfalls. Napier itself is a nice little city in the middle of a big wine region.  It was decimated by an earthquake in the 1930’s so much of it was rebuilt in art deco style, which is cool. And like just about everywhere you go here, the drive was beautiful.
