Super trooper

We spent our last full day in Denver running errands, and hopscotch was a super trooper, and not just because she can guzzle a bottle of syrup.  We left the cabin early in order to take Greta and Tiki to the vet at 10 am for the their final check in, mainly to get health certificates for their flight to LA.  From there I walked Greta around the corner to doggie daycare so she would someplace fun to spend they day while we ran errands.

From there I headed out to the hotel near the airport to meet Kelly and Hopscotch who just checking in.  An early check-in allowed us to deposit our bags in the room and then head over to the airport to pick up the rental car.  We grabbed a little lunch, making it over to the Post Office around 1 pm to mail off our final two ship-ahead boxes. One nice surprise was that it wasn’t as expensive as expected to ship big heavy boxes to NZ.  Not that it’s cheap by any means, but it was quite less than the prices I was given over the internets when I was trying to get a handle of costs.

We were happy to be rid of the ship ahead boxes, and headed straight over to Car Max for a 2:30 appraisal appointment to see about selling out cars.  2:30 came and went as we waited for our sales associate and I began to get nervous about timing.  The bank closed at 6 and we needed to make sure we could get there in time to deposit the check for the cars.  The process was pretty quick and straightforward and by 4 pm we had a check in hand for Kelly’s care and started in the 1/2 hour trip over to the hotel in my car to pick up the rental car.  Unfortunately this was he heart of rush hour and by the time we made it back to Car Max it was past 5:15.  Because we already had the appraisal for my car the process was quicker and we rushed out the door, making it to the bank at 5:58 pm.

We then zipped back into Denver to pick up Greta who got a nice shampoo and then a well-earned dinner and play at the McDonald’s play place for Hopscotch.  She spent the day getting in and out of her car seat while being swept from one un-fun place to another and never had a meltdown, in fact hardly complained.  It was a whirlwind of day and we had just enough time when we got back to the hotel around 8 pm to pack our bags and get ready for the big day to come!
