We are closed

As of today we are officially no longer homeowners.  It seems like just the other day we were doing yard sales and getting ready to list the house and now here we are with it sold.  The whole house-selling process was surprising smooth.  We were pleased with the offer we accepted and went under contract only four days after listing the house for sale.  The inspection went well, and there were only a few hiccups, mostly related to what we would and wouldn’t be leaving in the house and when we would be giving up possession. And we were even able to arrange for a rent back so that we can stay in the house almost all the way up until we leave, so all in all it couldn’t have gone any better.

The other recent doings are that I have selected a management company to take care of renting our duplex.  With so many horror stories surrounding property management I’m still a bit wary, but I did a lot of research to find one and in the end I don’t have any choice but to use one.  I had a  good conversation with the owner so fingers crossed they’re half as good as their reviews.

And finally, we received our updated pet import permit today.  All we had to do was to send in our revised address for Wellington and the confirmation for the new quarantine facility and they sent over a new one.  Score another win for the NZ government bureaucracy!
